A small selection from a series of intricate limited edition silk screen artworks of flowers, insects, frogs and birds. All the images were hand drawn with pen and ink on to acytate to produce the screens for printing, with up to twenty separate screens to produce the final image. The images were hand printed on to 100% cotton paper, with the blending of 2 to 3 colours together on the same screen a particular skill.
The inspiration for the series comes from my passion for gardening and flower growing with the design discipline of the Japanese Ukiyo-e wood block prints of the 19th century.

The six pieces of the Oranges and Lemon Suite where created using recycled and found pieces of wood ( some from the steets of London ). Each letter and block was hand cut using a jigsaw, fretsaw, scalpel, sandpaper etc and glued into position. Various wood stains were used to enhance the natural grain and beauty of the wood.
The inspiration for the Suite came from an earlier artwork created for the East End Arts Club 'The One Ton Show' 2008 in Shoreditch town hall, one hundred artist, graphic designers, illustrators, and printmakers interpret the brief 'London Lyrics'.
All pieces are 54x44cm and ready to hang.
